Exciting news!!!

If you have kept up with this blog, you know that I initially began working out for MYSELF, but it has become about so much more since the conception of GoFitCoach. I stand in amazement at how this is expanding to reach more and more people.

I am honored to now be the Fitness/Nutrition adviser for a Hashimoto support group!

For those of you unfamiliar with Hashimoto's Disease, it is a type of autoimmune thyroid disease in which the immune system attacks and destroys the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland helps the body set its metabolic rate. The common symptoms are fatigue, depression, sensitivity to cold, weight gain, forgetfulness, muscle weakness, puffy face, dry skin and hair, constipation, muscle cramps, and increased menstrual flow. Some patients have major swelling of the thyroid gland in the front of the neck, called goiter. Hashimoto's disease is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in the United States.

Fantastic! Great for you! Ive got a question. So what does one do when their goiter the size of a football is removed? will excercise still help them stay in shape even though their metabolism has been greatly hampered? Just a question I have a close friend who had this done.

Hey Susan!!!

There is a good chance that your friend may take replacement medication if her thyroid levels are low.

Yes, exercise will help her greatly! It may be more a challenge for her to lose weight, but it can definitely be done with clean eating and working out!!
